For 25 of the 37 odd years working for Boise Cascade, I taught on a part-time basis. It started back in
1982 with an Electrical Engineering "Circuits" class at Rainy River Community College.
I have been teaching this class on an on-going basis, as needed, ever since.
I also taught an introductory Physics class for non-engineers at RRCC. I like teaching.
Currently
this spring of 2008 I am teaching the Electrical Systems in
Industry, ELEC 1100, at Rainy
River Community College.
The last six years of my BC career were spent teaching Electrical and Instrumentation classes for apprentices. All 18 of the students in my classes are now journeyman in their respective crafts. I should say
"journeypersons" as three of the students were women.
All those students who required the license have passed the Minnesota Class 'A' Journeyman's Electrical Test. Several have also gone on to pass the Master's exam. One of the women in this group was the first to pass the Master's exam and became the 10th woman in Minnesota to do so.
To maintain either of the two licenses mentioned, it is required that the licensee complete 16 hours of approved continuing education technical training every two years. I
teach these classes yearly through Rainy River Community College.
I
am a certified National Electric Code instructor in the
following states:
